Bright & Breezy

St Albans Kitchen Design Project

The Story

A spacious, yet centrally located modern home in St Albans is a rare and wonderful thing! So when it came to re-thinking the kitchen, an extension wasn’t necessary... just the removal of one or three structural walls! But what a difference that made. The room is so bright and breezy with masses of natural light flooding in through the wide folding doors.

The newly created open-plan area is certainly generously proportioned, with plenty of space for a substantial kitchen, a lounge area, and an eight-seater dining table.

The centre piece of the kitchen is a curvaceous island with a place to perch.

The Details...

Waterwheel Light Blue and Foreshore White cabinets float over a pale oak floor. The Cameo White countertops by Corian adds to the soft, bright and breezy feel.

The Carl Hansen CH58 tan leather bar stools designed by legendary Danish designer Hans J Wegner are simply beautiful and fit perfectly into the Tomas Kitchen Living ethos.

Beyond the kitchen a Tomas sheerCASE is positioned on an angled wall with a set of Tomas (plectrum shaped) STRUM TABLES and a set of Safari Chairs (Kaere Klint for Carl Hansen).

"This kitchen was an interesting one, as there was a lot of space to play with. It has acres of work surface; an L and a large island. On the opposite wall the tall elements (ovens, fridges etc) were built to the ceiling. The clients were a genuinely a joy to work with and I am delighted that they are delighted with the results! Adding in the lounge area and Louis Poulsen lighting is the perfect way to garnish a classic Tomas recipe!"
